FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Concierge & Mobile Care
Where do treatment sessions take place?
We bring specialist care directly to you. Treatments are conducted in the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or residence.
What areas in the South Bay do you serve?
Our primary service area includes Torrance, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach. Inquiries from neighboring South Bay communities are considered on a case-by-case basis.
How much space do I need in my home for a session?
Not much at all. A clear, well-lit area with roughly 6' x 6' of open floor space is plenty for us to safely perform balance, gait, and movement assessments.
How long is each appointment?
Initial evaluations are a comprehensive 60 minutes. Follow-up treatment sessions are 30 to 60 minutes of uninterrupted, 1-on-1 care dedicated entirely to your rehabilitation.
Payment, Insurance & Medicare
Do you accept health insurance?
South Bay Dizziness & Vertigo Physical Therapy operates as an out-of-network, fee-for-service provider. Payment is due at the time of service via credit/debit card, HSA/FSA card, cash, Zelle, or Venmo.
Can I submit receipts to my insurance for reimbursement?
Yes. Upon request, we provide detailed monthly Superbills (itemized medical receipts) that you can submit to your PPO insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage depends entirely on your individual plan and cannot be guaranteed by our practice.
What to Expect During Care
Do I need a doctor’s prescription or referral before starting?
California permits Direct Access, allowing you to be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without a doctor's referral for up to 45 calendar days or 12 visits (whichever comes first). If care continues beyond that, a physician's sign-off is required.
Will the evaluation provoke my dizziness or symptoms?
Some positional tests and eye movement assessments are designed to briefly reproduce your symptoms—this is necessary to pinpoint the exact cause of your condition. However, every movement is carefully controlled, and we work at a pace that keeps you safe and comfortable.
What should I wear or prepare for my first appointment?
Wear comfortable, flexible clothing and flat, supportive walking or athletic shoes. Please have a list of your current medications and any recent physician notes or imaging reports (MRI/CT) ready for review.
How many visits will it take to see results?
Treatment duration depends on your specific diagnosis. Simple mechanical issues like BPPV often resolve in 1 to 3 visits. Complex conditions—such as post-concussion dizziness, PPPD, or cervical-related balance deficits—typically take longer which may require a targeted 4 to 8+ week program to achieve lasting improvements.
I’ve tried physical therapy before without success. How is this different?
General physical therapy often focuses on broad balance or orthopedic exercises. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized branch of care targeting oculomotor (eye movement), inner ear, and neurological integration. We utilize specialized clinical protocols designed specifically to pinpoint and treat the root cause of complex dizziness.
Do you treat Medicare beneficiaries?
We truly appreciate your interest in our practice; however, due to federal laws, non-enrolled physical therapy practices cannot accept self-pay or cash payments from Medicare beneficiaries for covered physical therapy services. Because South Bay Dizziness & Vertigo is a cash-based practice, we unfortunately cannot treat Original Medicare patients for covered therapy.
However, if you are seeking specialized wellness or prevention services that are strictly non-covered by Medicare, we may be able to see you. Please reach out to us directly before scheduling so we can review your needs and guide you on the best path forward.
